Posted by Anup Baral September 1st, 2016 : Nepal is governed according to the Constitution of Nepal, which came into effect on Sept 20, 2015, replacing the Interim Constitution of 2007. The Constitution was drafted by the Second Constituent Assembly following the failure of the First Constituent Assembly to produce a constitution in its mandated period. The Constitution of Nepal 2015 (2072) is the seventh constitution of Nepal. This is the first Constitution made and adopted by the Constituent Assembly (CA) which was specifically elected for this purpose. It was proclaimed by the President of Nepal on September 20, 2015 (Asoj 3, 2072).With the promulgation of the New Constitution on September 20, Nepal's prolonged political transition has come to a formal end, logically concluding the peace process started after a decade of violent Maoist insurgency.
